This offer is aimed at doctoral candidates in the late phase of their doctorate, postdocs and habilitation candidates as well as junior research group leaders who would like to gain more clarity when planning their career path.
Career coaching supports you in determining your professional position and goals and in sharpening your profile by reflecting on your own personality. It is up to you to decide which topics you want to focus on, e.g. "Structuring and planning your academic career path", "Preparing for selection and appointment procedures", "How can I improve my rhetorical skills?", "Acting successfully in committees", "Building networks" or "Which leadership style suits me?". For successful coaching, you should bring an open mind and curiosity for new perspectives.
Participants choose a coach from our list of coaches depending on their professional focus, personal inclination or the main topic to be worked on. They can also make their own suggestions for coaches. The coaching sessions ideally take place in person, but can also be held via telephone or video conferencing systems if both parties agree.
The next round of career coaching starts in January 2025 and usually lasts 4-6 months. A flat rate is available for participants, which allows them to take advantage of individual coaching sessions with a coach of their choice. The number of possible coaching sessions may vary slightly depending on the choice of coach and the respective hourly rate. You arrange an initial introductory meeting with the coach of your choice. You then decide whether you want to work on your issues with this coach or switch to another coach. It is also possible to consult career coaching with different coaches, e.g. when working on different key topics. In any case, please contact your Graduate Academy.
Before you start your coaching, you will receive brief advice on the process from the Graduate Academy. It is possible to cover any travel expenses incurred through the flat-rate fee. However, this will reduce the lump sum available to you for the coaching. Alternatively, you can cover the travel costs yourself.
