The supervision of final theses is an essential part of teaching at universities. When writing such a thesis, students develop their ability to work independently in a way that no other course can achieve. However, supervising students during a thesis is a highly complex task that is caught between the students' independent work and the supportive interventions of the supervisors. Questions arise time and again. Ambiguities and problems arise on both sides. In this practical discussion, we want to work on these cases in a collegial exchange and thus find ideas for solutions for the person bringing in the case as well as inspiration for all those involved in the exchange.
