This course will give you an insight into topics such as data management plans, re-use of research data and research data repositories. Strategies will be taught on how to organize and structure your own daily work through small measures, so that time can be saved in the long term.

Research data management, or RDM for short, is becoming an increasingly present topic in everyday scientific life.
Research funders sometimes want to see data management plans as early as the application stage. (Meta) data should be FAIR. But when is it and what makes data meta? Repositories are required for the storage of data. When you come across all this for the first time, it is usually when there is actually no time to read up on the subject.

Where is the time supposed to come from that would be needed in addition to working in the lab, on the test bench or researching the literature? But if it does become important for the project, the search begins for someone who is familiar with it.

In retrospect, you often realize that the most important question arises at the beginning of a project: What can already be done at this stage of the research project to ensure good RDM without additional effort? Even small measures to adapt daily work can lead to major time savings in the long term. In addition to this aspect of "organizing and structuring", the entire research data life cycle from planning to publication of research data will be explained during the event.

Of course, the tools and aids already available at Clausthal University of Technology will also be presented briefly and concisely, which can make everyday research a little easier.

FDM is not the same for every scientist and not for every subject area, so please feel free to bring your questions and problems to the event.

The event takes place in presence. On request, participation can also be made possible in hybrid form. In this case, the access data for BigBlueButton will be sent by e-mail in good time before the event.
