Problem-based learning (PBL) is an innovative teaching method that places learners at the center of the educational process. The starting point for all learning activities is the assignment or selection of extensive problem tasks, which are designed as a stimulus for all further (learning) activities. The problem is placed before phases of knowledge building. Three basic characteristics of PBL are
- Orientation towards complex problems
- Student-centered through self-directed learning in small groups
- Supervision by learning guides
In this four-part workshop, participants are introduced to the basics and advanced techniques of PBL. Through self-study units and interactive workshop sessions, you will gain the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively implement this method in your course.

Unit 4: Testing and evaluation
- Methods of performance measurement in PBL
- Creation of assessment rubrics
- Evaluation and continuous improvement
